Why hold it all

Every hand-off is a place where the specification can be lost.

Genetics drift. An extraction is run to someone else’s parameters. A formulation is adjusted to suit another company’s line. Each is small; together they are the reason so little in this category is repeatable. Holding the chain means the specification survives it.

It also means the record is continuous. One quality system governs every division, one document-control scheme numbers every procedure, and one production record is designed to carry a lot from its genetics to its release.

The refinery, in one paragraph

Method by output class.

An extraction platform is chosen for the output class it is best at, not for what happens to be free. Each platform has its own written procedure, its own solvent-recovery and residual-solvent limits, and its own place in the process-safety design. Solvent recovery, residual-solvent testing, winterization and distillation each run as a controlled unit operation with its own record.

No setpoint is published on this site. Each one lives in a controlled document that is to be qualified before it is used.
